Zhongding Temple

Zhongding temple is one of the most famous Wuding temples in Beijing. Wuding temple is also known as Bixia Yuanjun temple, which consists of five Temples: Dongding, Nanding, Xiding, Beiding and Zhongding.

The Zhongding is located at the shilichao bridge outside the YouAnMen gate. It was repaired in the 35th year of Qianlong and rebuilt in the Republic of China. There are now the mountain gate, the main hall, the stone lions, and the tablets and steles written by predecessors. Close to Yuquanying Island, Yuquanying furniture, Yuhuayuan, Yuquanying flower market, Beijing Shanghai high speed railway and Beijing South Railway Station are the only way.

Xiding temple is the most complete one in Wuding temple. There are four floors of main hall behind the mountain gate and front hall. There are corridors between the first and second floors of main hall. The rear main hall is divided into two floors, which is the highest building of the whole temple. In the back of the front hall, there is a side hall on the East and west sides. In the side hall, there is a painted picture of the seventy-two divisions of the underworld. It roughly tells us that people should accumulate virtue and do good deeds in the world and not do bad things. If they are immoral, they will be judged and punished by the underworld after they die. There are seven or twelve divisions in charge of seventy-two kinds of torture, such as going to the sword mountain, going to the fire sea, and frying in oil pan It's extremely cruel to grind with a millstone, to feed a wolf or a dog with a heart or a lung, to cut a tongue with an eye, and so on.

Dongding temple is located in Dongding village, dongzhimenwai. Because there is an old elm tree near the temple, people in this area also call it guyushu temple, which has no existence now. Nanding village, located outside dahongmenwai, Fengtai District, has disappeared.

Beiding is located in Beiding village, Datun, Chaoyang District. It was repaired during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty. In 1976, because of the collapse of the hall after the earthquake, it was rebuilt as Beiding primary school. Now there are only Shanmen and QianDian, and the rest are destroyed.
