China Overseas Chinese History Museum

The overseas Chinese History Museum of China opened on October 21, 2014. The museum is located in the inner North Street of Dongzhimen, Beijing, with a land acquisition area of 5000 square meters and a construction scale of 12700 square meters. The planned investment for the construction of the museum is 220 million yuan, mainly invested by the state.

In September 2019, it was named "national patriotic education demonstration base" by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Development history

The Chinese overseas Chinese history museum was proposed by Mr. Chen Jiageng, the first chairman of the Chinese Federation of overseas Chinese, in 1960 and approved by the national development and Reform Commission in July 2005. Since the news of the construction of the Museum of Chinese overseas Chinese history came out, the overseas Chinese community at home and abroad has responded warmly in the past six years. According to statistics, as of September 2011, nearly 5000 people from overseas Chinese circles at home and abroad have donated their goods voluntarily, and more than 10000 pieces of cultural relics have been donated free of charge. Most of the donated cultural relics are of high cultural and historical value, and some are the first overseas Chinese cultural relics in China. The Chinese overseas Chinese history museum was founded on September 6, 2011 and opened to the public on October 21, 2014. It receives free visitors from home and abroad and provides relevant services for all sectors of the society.

On December 10, 2019, China Overseas Chinese History Museum held the unveiling ceremony of "national patriotic education demonstration base".

architectural composition

The Chinese overseas Chinese history museum is located in Dongzhimen neibei street, Dongcheng District, Beijing. The main building has two floors underground and three floors above the ground, with a total height of 18 meters and a total construction area of 12765 square meters. The exhibition hall, lecture hall, conference hall and other reception facilities cover an area of about 7000 square meters, the collection warehouse and parking space cover an area of more than 4000 square meters, and the business office and ancillary rooms cover an area of about 2000 square meters. The main building structure of the museum was officially capped on January 10, 2013 and completed in 2014.

There are four basic exhibition halls, three temporary exhibition halls and one lecture hall. The permanent overseas Chinese history and culture exhibition is divided into four parts: the history of Chinese emigration overseas, the overseas life and contribution of overseas Chinese, the development of overseas Chinese and China, and the affairs of overseas Chinese in China. More than 1000 pieces (sets) of cultural relics and more than 1000 pictures are displayed. The exhibition combines historical tradition with modern ideas, and combines solemn and generous with lively ideas. It uses the combination of graphics and text, scene restoration, art creation, multimedia display and other techniques to assist cultural relics display. It helps the audience understand the historical changes and social life of Chinese overseas immigrants, the history of overseas Chinese development, entrepreneurship and contribution in various parts of the world, and shows the history of modern history The support of overseas Chinese for Chinese revolution and construction and the evolution and development of Chinese overseas Chinese Affairs institutions.
