Xiangwu cave

Xiangwu cave was built in 1745, the tenth year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong. It is the highest among the 28 sceneries in the Qing Jing Yi Yuan period. Because it is located in the middle of the mountain, it is covered with green shade, quiet and elegant, with fragrant plants and trees, so it is called Xiangwu cave, which means a quiet room full of fragrance.

Introduction to scenic spots

Xiangwu cave is located in the middle of Xiangshan mountain. The terrain here is relatively flat and open, so it is commonly known as the "platform" and becomes a good place for tourists to rest on the way to mountain climbing.

In the 11th, 13th and 32nd years of the reign of Emperor Qianlong, poems were written here. There are small blocks in the East, South and North, and big blocks in the East and West. The main building is a quiet room with seven couplets, followed by a bamboo house. On the northern hillside is the famous Xishan Qingxue stele.

The original building was burned by British and French forces in 1860, rebuilt on the original site in 2002 and completed in 2003. Xiangwu cave is composed of three courtyards and a viewing platform. The building is a group of buildings with unique style, with Yuanfang and Chengguan closed as the garden, and with corridors, temples and pavilions built in. Standing in Xiangwu cave, you can feel the red leaves in layers, far and near, reflecting different colors of red, and fully feel the pleasure and comfort of being in nature.

The theme Hall of Xiangwu Grottoes is "youmu Tianbiao" hall, with seven broad couplets. The plaque of "youmu Tianbiao" on the outer eaves is written by Emperor Jiaqing, and the plaque of "Xiangwu Grottoes" and "Jingshi" on the inner forehead is inscribed by Emperor Qianlong. The hall is decorated with the original throne, screen, Luanxiang palace fan, piano table, box bed and bookcase. This hall is a place for emperors Qianlong, Jiaqing and Daoguang to have a rest in the mountains. It is also used for office work and meeting officials.

You can get to the back of the hall by extending the corridor. There is a Chengguan building with three rooms of Jingyan building.
