Former residence of Wang Shuchang
Wang Shuchang's former residence is located in No.11 courtyard of Fuxiang Hutong in Beijing. He once lived in Wang Shuchang, a Kuomintang general, and now lives in his descendants.
On the eve of the liberation of Peiping, Chiang Kai Shek once sent Wang Shuchang a plane ticket to ask his wife and Wang to go to Nanjing. Wang refused to stay in Peiping with the KMT on the pretext of being old and weak and having a small family. Later, he actively worked for the peaceful liberation of Peiping and mediated. After the liberation of Peiping, Premier Zhou showed warm concern for Wang Shuchang. After the birth of new China, Wang Shuchang took an active part in the revolution and construction of new China. He once served as a counsellor of the counsellor's office of the Ministry of water and electricity, a member of the second and third CPPCC National Committee, and a member of the unity Committee of the Central Committee of the democratic revolution. Wang Shuchang died of illness in Beijing in 1960 at the age of 75.
