Qiushuli is a villa built by Liu Chenggan in 1930, which is a typical Chinese and Western architecture.

The entrance here is a long corridor similar to Shanghai Lane. In the middle stands a Western gatehouse with the word "zhexixiaoyin" on it.

Inside qiushu is a display of Liu Chenggan's nine younger brother Liu xucang's photographic works. Those who like photography can go and have a look.

It's not very impressive here. You may miss it if you're not careful. In addition, there is an undiscovered secret room and attic. You can look for it when you go there.

Qiushuli is a villa built in 1930 by Liu Chenggan, the owner of jiayetang library. It is a typical Chinese and Western architecture. The whole structure is a combination of gatehouse, corridor, Western gatehouse, rolling door, courtyard and independent hall.

Reasons for construction

In 1920, Liu Chenggan built the library of jiayetang. At the same time, in order to meet the needs of library management, he expanded qiushuli as a place for him and his family to live in huixun and the library management office.

The origin of the name

Liu Chenggan was indifferent to fame and wealth all his life, and did not seek to become an official. Even in his later years, he was calm and complacent, so he regarded himself as a "scholar seeking forgiveness". The place where he stored books in Shanghai was called "qiushuzhai", and Nanxun villa was called "qiushuli".

Western gatehouse

The entrance is a long corridor, with the style of Shanghai Lane. In the middle is a Western gatehouse with the word "zhexixiaoyin" on it. On the top of the Western gatehouse are some animals like the Golden Toad, which is said to be the trademark of the Liu family in the raw silk business.

Liu xucang photography exhibition hall

Now there is a photo exhibition of Liu xucang's works on display in qiushuli. Liu xucang, formerly known as Liu Chengdong, is a famous modern Chinese photographer. He once served as the chairman of Shanghai Photography Association. He is Liu Chenggan's ninth younger brother, with a difference of 32 years. One is famous for collecting antiques, while the other is famous for studying photography. The two brothers have their own achievements, and they are called the "Chinese and Western Wall" of the Liu family. In the 1930s, Liu xucang has become one of the few photographers in Shanghai. His works mainly focus on human body photography, still life photography and landscape photography. He has won 54 awards in 25 countries including Britain, France and the United States.

Garden Villas

There is a garden villa at the end of the corridor in qiushu. The garden is decorated with flowers, trees and Taihu Lake stones. The main building of the villa is a Chinese and Western Hall building. The main gate is a Shikumen type wall door, and the entrance is a brick gate building, on which is "Guanghui Yihou", which is the owner's hope that future generations can inherit their ancestors and carry forward their glory. Downstairs is the living room, which has Wu Changshuo title "Shuang Yi Jin Hui" several characters. The central hall is a picture of Li Bai singing while drinking, as well as Zhao Zhiqian's couplet "fierce ambition to escape all over the world, miraculous Lin and five dragons". The second floor is the bedroom. Open the window facing south, you can not only enjoy the view of the garden, but also have a distant view of the Liu family's xiaolianzhuang and the library. There is an undiscovered attic above.

2. Taxis: there are not many taxis in Nanxun town. The starting price is 5 yuan / 2km, and 2 yuan / km after exceeding.

3. Tricycle: the local tricycle is one of the main means of transportation in Nanxun Town, which is convenient to travel. Tricycle charges about 3 yuan / km. Taian road bus station to the ancient town is usually 8 yuan, long-distance station 10-15 yuan.
