Former residence of Chen Huacheng

Chen Huacheng's former residence is located at 9 Caopu lane, Xiamen. It is a brick and wood structure flat house with a hard hill and tile roof and a bucket. It faces southeast and northwest. The existing building is 10 meters wide, 13 meters deep, and has a building area of 130 square meters.

From the northwest to the southeast, the whole building is the patio and hall, with bedrooms and stoves on both sides. The stone bed used by Chen Huacheng at that time is preserved in his former residence. Chen Huacheng (1776-1842), a native of Tongan, served as the commander-in-chief of Jiangnan. In 1842, he led the army in Wusongkou, Shanghai to fight against the invading British ships. He fought alone and died. This house was purchased by Chen Huacheng when he was stationed in Xiamen. Now it is a municipal cultural relic protection unit.
