Tiger running spring
Hupao spring is located in the side courtyard of Xiahui Temple (commonly known as Hupao Temple) of baihefeng, dacishan, southwest of Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, about 5 kilometers away from the urban area. There is also an interesting myth about the origin of tiger spring. According to legend, in 819, the eminent monk Huan Zhong (also known as Xing Kong) came here. He liked the beautiful scenery and lived here. Later. Because there was no water source nearby, he was going to move to another place. Suddenly, he dreamed that the man of God told him, "there is a boy spring in Nanyue. We should send erhu to move it here." The next day, he saw erhu running (planing) to make a crypt, and the clear spring water immediately gushed out, so it was named Hupao spring. Zhang Yining in the title spring couplet, but also to the tiger run spring covered with a layer of religious and mysterious color.
landforms
The Hupao spring seeps out from the sandstone and quartz sand on the steep wall of the back fault of dacishan. According to the measurement, its discharge is 43.2-86.4 cubic meters.
Hupao spring is a two foot square spring. The clear spring water gushes from the mountain and rock banners. The three characters "Hupao spring" are engraved on the back wall of the spring. It is the handwriting of Tan Daoyi, a calligrapher of Western Shu. It is vigorous and powerful. There is a pool in front of the spring, surrounded by stone railings: in the pool, there are rocks, pines and flowers, just like bonsai. Here, visitors can enjoy the spring by sitting on the stone, and view the flowers by relying on the fence. It is pleasant and elegant.
The spring is crystal clear and sweet, ranking first among all springs in the West Lake. Together with Longjing spring, it is known as "the third spring in the world". There are three wells in hupaoquan, which are later combined into two pools. On the stone bed in the stone niche beside the main pool spring, Huanzhong is sleeping on his side with his head resting on his right arm. He looks quiet and charitable. That kind of transcendent state in which heaven and earth do not know spring is quite like a couplet
When the dream is ripe, the bell will not break,
Shenyou three treasures in the middle of the sky, cloud shadow gone without a trace.
At the same time, two vivid tigers are walking from the right side of the niche to the sleeping monk, and the image is also very vivid. This group of "dream tiger" reliefs contain immortals to support the dream of Huanzhong, and send fairy children to become two tigers to move to Qingyuan of Nanyue. "The tiger moved the spring eye to Nanyue boy, and left this true source after thousands of robberies." ----This couplet of tiger running temple is also a fairy tale, but it has more Buddhist implication.

In view of the increasing number of people tasting ancient springs, the press in Hangzhou once called for proper control of daily water intake, so as to protect the natural water volume of ancient springs and their long-time famous fresh and mellow water. "Hupao" is also the burial place of the legendary figure "Jigong", where "Jigong hall" and "Jigong tower yard" are located. Li Shutong, a master of modern art, became a monk here, and the memorial hall of master Hongyi also attracts people's attention.
Folklore
Hupao spring is the third spring in the world. The first spring is Zhongling spring in Jinshan of Zhenjiang, and the second spring is Huiquan in Huishan of Wuxi. The water quality of Hupao spring is sweet and mellow. Together with the West Lake Longjing, it is called the West Lake Shuangjue, and has the reputation of "West Lake Longjing Hupao water".
Legend one
It is said that during the reign of the Tang Dynasty and the Yuan Dynasty, the monk of sexual emptiness once lived here, but there was no water here, so life was very inconvenient. When he was helpless, he prepared to leave the temple. One night, I dreamt that an immortal told him: "tomorrow, two tigers will move Nanyue tongziquan." The next day, the two tigers "ran to the ground to make acupoints" and gushed out spring water. Of course, it's just a legend. In fact, the Hupao spring is located in the lower part of the mountains, and the groundwater seeps out with the rocks. Due to the abundant water, the Hupao spring will not dry up. The mineralization degree of Hupao spring is not high, the water quality is sterile, and it has health care effect on human body after drinking.
The surface tension of Hupao spring is very high. If you fill the cup with water, and then put the coins one by one into the cup, the spring will gradually rise 3 mm above the surface of the cup and will not overflow. It's very interesting.
Beside the Hupao teahouse is Jizu pagoda courtyard, where Jidian monk buried his ashes in the Song Dynasty. There are several stone carvings on the back wall of the courtyard, all of which are Jidian legends. The tea room is at the forefront, and you can go to Hongyi Memorial Hall. Master Hongyi (1880-1942), surnamed Li Mingxi and No. Shutong, was born in Pinghu, Zhejiang Province. In his early years, he studied in Japan and was proficient in music and drama. He was quite accomplished in calligraphy, painting and seal cutting. He once taught Buddhism in Southeast Asia. In 1918, he became a monk in Hupao. He was a scholar and eminent monk.
Legend 2
It is said that when Emperor Qianlong went down to the south of the Yangtze River, he came to the foot of Shifeng mountain in Longjing, Hangzhou, to see the local women picking tea to show his appreciation of the people's feelings. On that day, Emperor Qianlong saw several rural women picking tea in front of more than ten shady tea tents. He was very happy and learned to pick tea. Just picked one, suddenly the eunuch came to report: "the Empress Dowager is ill, please hurry back to Beijing." When Emperor Qianlong heard that the Empress Dowager was ill, he put a handful of tea into the bag and rushed back to the capital day and night. As a matter of fact, the Empress Dowager was not seriously ill because she had eaten too much delicacies and seafood. For a moment, her anger rose, her eyes were red and swollen, and her stomach was uncomfortable. At this time, seeing the emperor's son coming, he felt a fragrance coming and asked what good things he had brought. The emperor also wondered, where did the fragrance come from? He touched it casually. Ah, it turned out to be a handful of tea from Shifeng mountain in Hangzhou. After a few days, it had dried, and the strong aroma was coming out. The Empress Dowager wanted to taste the tea. The palace maid made the tea and sent it to the Empress Dowager. As expected, it was fragrant. After the Empress Dowager took a sip, her eyes became more comfortable. After drinking the tea, the redness and swelling disappeared and her stomach did not swell. The Empress Dowager said happily, "the tea from Longjing in Hangzhou is really a panacea." Emperor Qianlong was so happy to see the Empress Dowager that he immediately sent an order to seal the 18 tea trees in front of the Hugong temple at the foot of Shifeng mountain in Longjing, Hangzhou, as imperial tea. Every year, he picked new tea to pay tribute to the Empress Dowager. Up to now, the 18 imperial teas are still preserved in front of Hugong temple in Longjing Village, Hangzhou.
