Leidongping

Leidongping is one of the scenic spots of Mount Emei, located on lianwang slope, with an altitude of 2430 meters. It is said that it was built in the Han Dynasty. In the middle of the first floor, there is a statue of Maitreya, which is simple and solemn. There is a pavilion on the right side of the temple. The stone cliff in front of the pavilion is engraved with the character "Lei Dong Ting" in seal script. There is an iron stele on the side of leidongping, which forbids visitors to make noise. Otherwise, it will be thunder and lightning. It is said that there are 72 caves under the rock, where the Dragon God and the thunder god live. In case of drought, the villagers come here to pray for rain, throw dead pigs, dogs or women's clothes, shoes and socks under the rock, and often have thunderstorms. From leidongping to jieyindian, you can see the rare flowers and trees Rhododendron. In winter, leidongping ski resort of Emei Mountain will also be open, and the opening time is from December to February.

According to experts' investigation, there are 29 species of Rhododendron in Emei Mountain and 12 species in leidongping mountain, all of which are endemic to China or Emei Mountain. We can see beauty Rhododendron, Rhododendron spinosa, Rhododendron Shanguang, Rhododendron spontaneum, Rhododendron rugulosum and so on. The flowers are gorgeous and have important ornamental and research value. In order to strengthen the protection, the scenic area management department has set up a 70 hectare Rhododendron reserve.
