Xilai ancient town

Xilai ancient town is located in Pujiang County, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. It not only maintains a large number of houses in Western Sichuan during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, but also has 12 famous banyan trees. Xilai town is located across Linxi River and Wumian hills, national highway 108 in the East, national highway 318 in the west, Western Sichuan Tourism Ring Line (provincial highway 106) and shouwo Road (National Highway 108, 318 connecting line) crossing through the town, covering an area of 79 square kilometers. It was originally Linxi County, and has a history of more than 1700 years.

History of ancient town

It has a long history in the west, more than 1700 years ago. He used to be the seat of Linxi County. In 555, the second year of emperor Gong of the Western Wei Dynasty, the county was set up. The county was named after Linxi river. After Linxi County was established as a county, it experienced nine dynasties, including the Western Wei Dynasty, the Northern Zhou Dynasty, the Sui Dynasty, the Tang Dynasty, the former Shu Dynasty, the latter Tang Dynasty, the latter Shu Dynasty and the Northern Song Dynasty, which lasted for 517 years. In 1072, Linxi County was reduced to Linxi town and assigned to Linqiong county. In the sixth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty, the Ming government re established Pujiang County and assigned Linxi town and Shouan town to Pujiang County.

There are two versions of the name of "Xilai". One is that from the sky, the houses in the whole town have become a standard word of "Xilai". The second one is a legend. It is said that in the first year of Kangxi (1662 AD), Linxi river broke out a once-in-a-hundred-year flood, which washed the wooden statue of Guandi from zhangkuichang Guandi temple to the production field of Xilin temple in Linxi. Monk Jingci, the abbot of Xilin temple, donated the production field and built a new Guandi temple where the statue of Guandi was stranded. Generally, the gate of the temple is north-south, but the gate of the temple of emperor Guan who came from the West opens to the west, which means that the emperor Guan came from the West. In 1696, Li Shenwen, the magistrate of Pujiang County, visited linxichang. He found that there was more than one name of linxichang, which was easy to be confused. Because emperor Guan came from the west, it brought prosperity and hope here. He borrowed the allusion of "Buddhism comes from the west" in Buddhist doctrine, that is, Xuanzang of Tang Dynasty took the Sutra of Mahayana from the west, so he changed linxichang to the West. This is the origin of "first Guandi temple, then xilaichang".

Intercity train: there are three intercity trains in Chengdu West Railway station every day, which can reach Xilai station via Chengdu Ya'an railway, lasting 36 to 48 minutes.

Wenfeng tower

The body of the tower is hexagonal, with cornices on each floor. The pagoda is surrounded by classical opera sculptures and poems written in Jiuqu Zhuanwen, which is rare in the world. It is said that there is a young man living on the Bank of Linxi river. He has been fond of calligraphy since he was a child, and he has learned to write well. But he had a bad habit of writing words everywhere. Later, his eyes became blind. In a dream, an old man with white beard came to his bed, pointed to him and said, "young man, this is your retribution! Do you want to see the light again? You have to cherish words. " The next day, he would stick around to pick up word pieces. Every time he picked up a basket, he would pour it into the Wenfeng tower and burn it. When it was dark, he would give a number to the official gods of Baogong hall. From then on, whether it was hot summer or cold winter, he never stopped, and he picked up all the characters in xilaichang. His action moved the spirit, and his eyes were much better than before. Ten years later, the young man's eyes were completely restored.
