Shouchangcheng

Shouchangcheng is one of the six counties led by Dunhuang county. In the Northern Wei Dynasty, it was renamed shouchang county. Guazhou governs longle county and Dongxiang County. In the Northern Zhou Dynasty, it was merged into Dunhuang county. During the reign of Wude in Tang Dynasty, shouchang county was established, belonging to Shazhou county.

Introduction to scenic spots

To the east of Dunhuang South Lake, there is a ruins city covered by rolling yellow sand, which is the site of shouchang city. The old thoroughfares and busy markets have disappeared, with only a few sections of broken walls struggling tenaciously in the sand dunes, standing aloof for more than a thousand years. There are sand dunes in the ruins of the ancient city. There are only intermittent city walls in the East, West and North, and only wall foundations in the south. All the walls are made of red clay, and the rammed earth contains gray, red pottery and Han Dynasty relics. The residual wall is high and low, with a maximum of 4 meters. There is a kiln site 70 meters southeast of the city. In the north and East, there are traces of villages and farmland, which are covered by sand dunes. When the wind blows and the sand moves, ancient bricks, pottery pieces, coins and arrowheads are exposed among the sand dunes, all of which are relics of the Han and Song dynasties. In shouchang City, small round stones in black and white can be seen, including smooth and delicate finished products, semi-finished products, and unprocessed black and white gravel piles. After textual research, this is the ancient go. According to the Dunhuang Manuscripts "Local Records", in the Tang Dynasty, Shazhou paid tribute to the imperial court every year for 20 weiqi pieces, and shouchang county was the place where weiqi pieces were processed.
