Nankan scenic spot is located on Nankan mountain, 2km away from the southern suburb of Bazhong County, covering an area of 3000 mu. It is a garden of ancient and modern civilization.

Development history

Over the past 20 years, Feixia Pavilion, Luyin Pavilion, huaigu Pavilion, Yinhui Pavilion, Yunjian Pavilion, Danti Pavilion, Yufo temple, Daxiong hall, Guanyin hall and Sakyamuni hall have been built in succession in the park, which are magnificent. The Jade Buddha Temple is one of the largest and fully functional large-scale Jade Buddha temples in China, with 100 jade Buddhas over 2 meters high invited from Myanmar.

Main attractions

The scenic spots include Nankan Moyan statue and Nankan park. Nankan mountain is famous for its ancient Moyan statues. There are 122 niches and more than 1800 bodies in the existing complete Buddha statues, with niches arranged in layers at the belly of the cliff. It was founded in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, and has been increasingly engraved in later generations. Besides the Buddha statues, there are 25 historical steles and hundreds of poems on the wall. Among the steles, the most famous one is the Zou table of governor Yanwu of Bazhou in suzong period of Tang Dynasty.

The Moyan statues in Nankan are mainly Buddhist, with vivid characters and unique ingenuity. The statue of Buddha has solemn and solemn expression, beautiful posture, harmonious and vivid; the statue of strongman is muscular and strong, majestic; the statue of flying Apsaras is exquisitely carved, with a strong sense of straightness; the statue of Guanyin is exquisite, with plump body, round and youthful face, and graceful and moving posture, reflecting the elegant demeanour of the ladies of the Tang Dynasty. The layout of the Nankan Grottoes is unique. The largest grottoes are more than Zhang square, and the smallest are only 5 inches. They are alternate in size and density. The stone carving art of Nankan is based on the Buddha statue of lushe in the middle of quanya. There are also ink marks of literati of past dynasties, and the word "strange shape" written by Li Bai is engraved here.
