Guangwu Ming Great Wall

According to relevant materials and inscriptions, Guangwu Ming Great Wall was built in 1374, the seventh year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty. It is an inner Great Wall, with a total length of about 40 Li (from new Guangwu to Xi'an Valley). There are still 26 Li on the wall, and the rest is a remnant. It is well preserved in xinguangwu, Shanyin county.

Status quo of the site

The Guangwu Ming Great Wall is 10000 meters long, 6-8 meters high, 5 meters wide at the bottom and 3 meters wide at the top. It runs slowly along the ridge and fluctuates with the twists and turns of the mountain. It is like a giant dragon that can not be seen from the beginning to the end. All of it is of brick and stone structure. There are 16 enemy towers on it, five of which are well preserved. It also has a waist gate and other buildings that are easy to defend and attack. It faces Yanmen pass in the East, overlooks the old city of Ningwu in the west, Nantong Wutai scenic spot in the South and Yungang in the north Grottoes are the representative works of the great wall of Ming Dynasty in our province. They are the treasures of the Great Wall in China. They are of great value for military scientific research and tourism.

Collapse event

From the evening of October 3 to the morning of October 4, 2016, the remaining enemy tower of the Great Wall, which is the landmark landscape of the great wall and is known as the "moon gate" by the majority of tourists, collapsed. Guangwu Ming Great Wall is one of the most complete Ming Great Walls with bricks. It is also the original ancient Great Wall. For the collapse, the local relevant departments have not made a response.

In November 2016, the local government carried out a protective renovation of the collapsed landmark "moon gate" of the Guangwu Ming Great Wall, but it is difficult to recover to the natural weathering before the collapse. After the reconstruction, only one pillar was left, the rest of which was reinforced with new bricks, and the platform base was built according to the layout of the enemy tower. The rest of this section of the Great Wall remains intact.

The Great Wall in Badaling, Shanhaiguan and other places on the outskirts of Beijing is magnificent, but it is not the original. Only the Guangwu Ming Great Wall has not been artificially restored, but it has maintained its original historical appearance. Therefore, Beijing used this section of the Great Wall as the basis for the restoration of the Great Wall in the suburbs of Beijing. According to local people, in recent years, there have been some maintenance, but the effect is not obvious.

According to local scholars, the damage to the Great Wall mainly comes from: long-term wind and rain erosion, resulting in natural damage to the great wall; for many years, villagers along the border have built houses directly from the Great Wall to dig bricks, and roads have been cut off through the wall; tourism development and destructive restoration, many of the original features of the pass have disappeared, and many of the mines and quarries have been illegally mined, causing damage to the great wall and the local ecology Destructive damage.
