Siping Botanical Garden

Siping botanical garden is 13 kilometers away from Fengdu County and 9 kilometers away from Xinxian City, covering an area of more than 35000 mu. The park was built in 1960, approved by Sichuan Provincial Forestry Department in 1992 and upgraded to provincial forest park in 1995.

The whole park has a pleasant climate, warm in winter and cool in summer. According to the investigation of the Chinese Academy of forestry, it is one of the best preserved evergreen broad-leaved forests in the subtropical low-altitude areas along the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. The park is rich in various animal and plant resources, including more than 1000 species of plants, 35 species of national first and second class plants, 25 species of key flowers and 11 species of rare flowers. There are 76 species of wild animals, 24 species of two victims and 23 species of reptiles. There are 92 species of birds, 4 of which are national protected rare species and 6 of which are endemic to China.

There are Pinus elliottii introduced from the United States, Eucalyptus provenance demonstration forest co cultivated by China and Australia, aerial seeding forest of Sichuan Provincial Forestry Department, Tibetan cypress and Masson Pine Provenance demonstration garden of Sichuan Academy of Forestry Sciences. It is designated as one of the wildlife monitoring stations in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area by the Ministry of forestry.

The whole Siping park is composed of shibagou, Laoya mountain and state-owned forest area. It has its unique landscape characteristics. It is an ideal place for sightseeing, vacation and leisure. It has the reputation of "green pearl on the edge of the Yangtze River" and "little green city". With the completion of the Three Gorges Project and the southward migration of Fengdu County, Siping, as the only Suburban Park with forest natural landscape along the Yangtze River, has been highly valued by Fengdu county Party committee and county government. It has been listed as an open resettlement base and a key project to enrich the people and the County. Therefore, Siping botanical garden plays an increasingly important role in Fengdu tourism.
