Laoe mountain is the sister mountain of Emei Mountain and the main peak of Zonggang mountain. The altitude is 1142 meters and the total area is 11.8 square kilometers. Standing alone in the southwest edge of Chengdu Plain, there is smoke floating in the middle of the mountain, which is spectacular. The shape of the mountain is very similar to that of Emei. It is magnificent, strange and dangerous. It has the style of Emei Mountain. According to folklore, Mount Emei came after this mountain, so it is called "old Mount Emei".

Human history

According to local historical records, laoeshan Buddhism is very popular and fragrant. It was built in Sui Dynasty and flourished in Tang, song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are 72 temples in the mountain, with thousands of monks at most. During the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty, Taoism was introduced into laoeshan. 36 nunneries were built in the mountains, and nearly 400 Taoists practiced Taoism in the mountains. Su Dongpo, a famous politician and litterateur in Song Dynasty, Du Guangting, a Taoist figure, Peng duanshu, a litterateur in Qing Dynasty, and other famous scholars visited the mountain and left many praise poems. During the period of the Republic of China, social unrest, bandits gathered in the mountains for a long time, and many landscape temples in laoeshan were destroyed.

Traffic information

Danling county automobile transportation company has buses directly to the scenic spot. Starting from Meishan, drive westward along line 106, and continue about 10km westward through Danling. When you come to the level crossing of line 106 with Renmei town and Zhangchang Town, you can see the old Eshan memorial archway on the right side of line 106.
