It is composed of podium, tube, grid structure, sphere, etc., with a total of 20 floors, including two underground floors and 18 above ground floors. In the middle period, the first floor is the meteorological science exhibition area, the second and third floors are the leisure and entertainment area, and the fourteenth and fifteenth floors are the high-altitude sightseeing area. The first, second, third, fourteenth and fifteenth floors are for visitors, and the rest floors are workshops and equipment rooms.

Design significance

The shape of the weather tower is just like a "dolphin" jumping out of the blue sea. The person in charge of the meteorological tower told reporters that the shape is intended to be a "Pearl" rising on the Gobi desert, which also echoes with Jiayuguan City in the vast Gobi of Northwest China.

The role of meteorological observation

The top part of the meteorological tower is meteorological observation equipment. The tower is equipped with international advanced Doppler weather radar and detection and analysis technology, which can accurately estimate the rainfall within the radius of 200 km of Jiayuguan. The monitoring distance of large-scale heavy rainfall weather is more than 400 km. It is the main means of real-time monitoring and early warning of disastrous weather such as gale, thunderstorm, hail and heavy rain .
