Houshi mountain

Houshi mountain is located in Xifeng County. There is a dark rock at the foot of the mountain. Seen from a distance, it looks like a monkey crouching at the foot of the mountain, hence the name of Houshishan.

Founded in 1889, it was built by the Qing army at the mouth of Lushun. After the invasion of Lushun by Russia, it was expanded. It was linked with the East Jiguanshan fortress on the east line, forming a complete defense system.

The Soviet martyrs cemetery is located in Sanli bridge in the northwest of Lushun, covering an area of 48000 square meters. There are 2030 people buried here, including some officers and soldiers of the Soviet Red Army who died in 1945 in the anti fascist war to liberate Northeast China, soldiers and their families who died during 10 years of Soviet garrison in Lushun, and some pilots of the Soviet air force who died in the war of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea. In the center of the cemetery, there is a 15 meter high martyr memorial tower made of white marble. On the base of the tower are large bronze statues of soldiers, copper wreaths and torches.

The western part of the cemetery is a cemetery built by Tsarist Russia after the Sino Japanese War of 1894-1895. Nearly 20000 Russian soldiers who died in the battle for Lushun in the Russo Japanese war were also buried here. Lushun Soviet martyrs cemetery is the largest foreign martyrs cemetery built in China.

In the southwest of Jiamusi, there is a big mountain. There is an immortal stone on the mountain. It looks like a monkey standing. People call it Houshishan. It is said that it was not called Houshishan before, but "nangaofeng", because it is the highest in Jiamusi. It was a long time ago, an old man surnamed Hou used the stones on the mountain to help justice overcome evil in nangaofeng. People changed nangaofeng to Houshishan in memory of the old Hou.

There is another legend, the original name of Houshi mountain is "qingsongfeng", because the local pine trees are everywhere, dense forest and grass. One night, thunder and lightning flashed on Qingsong peak, and it rained heavily. After the rain, there was a loud noise. I don't know where a monkey came from. The monkey had three eyes, which gave off white light and caught people's eyes. When he walked, the rocks flew and the cold wind blew. From then on, the monkey occupied the mountain Later people called qingsongfeng Houshishan.
