Hewan cottage, located in Houxi Town, Youyang County, Chongqing, is known as the most beautiful Tujia cottage in China. It is named after Youshui River, the mother river of Tujia people, which flows in the territory. Hewan cottage was built in 1370, that is, the third year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty. It covers an area of 15.5 square kilometers and is mainly composed of Tujia and Miao ethnic groups. Hewan mountain village has a long history and pleasant natural scenery. It integrates green mountains, green water, ancient village and Tujia culture. Known as "the most beautiful Tujia village in China" and "the birthplace of Tujia culture", it is also a village with ethnic characteristics in Chongqing.

The village is dominated by shallow hills with mild climate and abundant rainfall. The forest coverage rate reaches 42% and the average altitude is 350 meters. There is Sangu mountain in the north and Shidi town in Xiushan mountain in the south. Historical evolution

Hewan village was built in 1370, the third year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty. The mountain village is built by the mountain and the water. It has a ladder layout, distinct layers and well arranged. The ancient trees are towering in the village, and the green bamboo is green. The mountain village building is a Tujia stilted building with a unique style. The terraced fields behind the village and the beautiful natural environment make it known as the most beautiful Tujia mountain village in China. It has a history of more than 600 years. There are more than 150 households and more than 600 people in the village, mainly with the Bai surname of Tujia nationality.

The hand waving hall in Hewan village was built by Tujia people of Peng family in the first year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty. It is the best preserved hand waving hall in Southeast Chongqing. A 200 square meter ground dam is surrounded by stone slabs outside the hall. On the stone slabs are carved with vivid scenes such as Elk's flower, magpie's plum blossom, Phoenix's peony and unicorn's Dragon elephant.

Youshui River

Youshui river is known as the mother river of Tujia people. Along the two banks of the river, the spring flowers are brilliant, the summer green is green, the autumn maple is rosy, the winter snow is crystal clear, accompanied by the sound of tits, cicadas and wind, it is very pleasant.
