Guizhou Museum of Paleontology and fossils was established on the basis of Guizhou stone culture and art palace. In July 2001, Guizhou stone culture and art palace was officially opened to the public. With its unique environment, Guizhou stone culture and art palace enjoys a high reputation in Guiyang and even the whole country's paleontological and fossil circles. It is a comprehensive exhibition hall with a large number of paleontological fossils and Guizhou rare stones in China. In 2002, it was named "Guizhou science and general education base". In April 2010, with the approval of Guizhou Provincial Bureau of cultural relics, Guizhou Museum of paleontological fossils was successfully declared and opened to the public free of charge in July of the same year, making it the only public welfare Museum of paleontological fossils approved by Guizhou Provincial Bureau of cultural relics.
