Huzhuang Catholic Church

Huzhuang Catholic Church complex, one of the three Catholic Holy Places in China, is located in Huzhuang village, 8 km south of Pingyin County. Since Catholicism was introduced into Huzhuang village of Pingyin County in 1604, it has built 7 cathedrals in the village and on the mountain by 1966.

Virgin sin Free Church

Located in the village, the original sin Church of Virgin Mary was built in 1906, covering an area of 3.3 hectares. The main building is composed of the Catholic Church, the priest's office building, the priest's room building and the garden. The main building of the Catholic Church is 52.25 meters from north to south, 28.37 meters from east to west, 50 meters high with the back dome and cross, with a construction area of 1000 square meters. The whole building is built with large pieces of stone, and the pillars are decorated with high relief flowers. The office building and guest house building are located on the northeast side of the church. Office building to sit north to south, guest room building to sit east to west. The eastern end of the office building is connected with the northern end of the guest room building, which arches the Catholic Church. The whole building complex presents Gothic architectural style everywhere. It was destroyed by fire during the "Cultural Revolution". By 1990, the church had only the South Gate of the church yard, the priest's office building and the priest's guest room building. It was rebuilt on the original site in 1998. The scale of the reconstructed Catholic Church is the same as before, and the materials are changed into red brick, cement and steel bars. The exterior decoration is granite and imitation stone painting. The main tower is changed from the south to the north, which is a frame Roman style building. The south wall was changed to a transparent iron lattice, and the gate was also changed to an iron lattice. The front of the church can be seen outside. In the courtyard, the original pool was renovated, flowers and trees were newly planted, and the lawn became a beautiful garden in front of the hall.

Notre Dame of Ruth

The Notre Dame church is located at the top of the hill in the west of Huzhuang village. It was first built in 1895, burned by lightning in the summer of 1927, rebuilt in 1928, and destroyed in fire in 1966. In June 1989, the domestic Catholics voluntarily offered their instruments and went out to repair them. The restored Notre Dame of Ruth sits West to East, with a construction area of 270 square meters. The whole building still retains the original Gothic architectural style and features, showing a sharp cone shape everywhere, giving people a sense of uplifting. On the east side of the hall, a 200 meter long straight stone road is built. On the south side of the road, there are statues of Jesus' suffering, white Virgin Mary and Saint John's disciples standing under the cross. Two statues of guarding the gods were erected on the stone pillars on both sides of the lower road of the stone steps, giving the pilgrims the enlightenment that they have entered the holy land. The church was completed in May 1990.

Holy land rose

Huzhuang is not only a famous Catholic Holy Land, but also the core production area of Pingyin rose town. Pingyin County is rich in roses, which is called "the hometown of roses" in the dictionary of Chinese scenic spots. The double red roses here not only have a long history of cultivation, but also are famous at home and abroad for their large petals, thick color, rich fragrance and excellent quality. At the "National Symposium on rose production" held in July 1982, experts unanimously commented that "Pingyin rose is sweet and Ruyi, fragrant and overflowing, with the characteristics of positive fragrance, delicate fragrance, sweet fragrance and strong fragrance", which is known as "the representative of traditional Chinese rose". Therefore, Pingyin rose is well-known in the world and has long been well-known.

In May of every year, during the virgin month, it is also the season of the holy blooming of roses. The blooming period is 3-10 days. At this time, the rose of Huzhuang church was opening to the public. There were rows, clusters and pieces of brilliant roses everywhere on the hillside, beside the weir, in the countryside, in front of and behind the house. The fragrance was refreshing and refreshing.

Since 1990, the rose culture and Art Festival has been held in mid May every year in Pingyin. Watching roses, eating rose balls in Huzhuang, tasting rose banquet and experiencing mount Notre Dame church have become people's inevitable choices. Every year, when roses are in full bloom, there are more than 200000 pilgrims and tourists.
