Alishan Museum

The Alishan museum is a place to know the human history of Alishan and to seek for the eternal memory of Alishan.

--Here is an introduction to Alishan, a model, and some knowledge about trees. You can stamp it as a souvenir for free.

The Alishan museum was founded in the 24th year of the Republic of China. In 1996, it was renovated. The roof truss of the museum was restored with Taiwan's first-class cypress. The cypress can also be seen with the words "forest building office of governor's office of Taiwan". Its historical significance can be seen. It also bears witness to the development history of Alishan. Although the building area is small, it is very characteristic. After the renovation, it still retains the cypress flavor of the original building The main theme of the project is to show the forest railway, early logging history and forest farm conservation. It is hoped that when tourists come to Alishan, they can visit the nostalgic memory of Alishan

It is quite rare to show the representative locomotive models of various ages, including steam train 18 tons and 28 tons, Zhongxing, diesel locomotive 25 tons and 28 tons, and Shay's huge photos of 18 tons and 2 cylinders refitted with diamond chimney steam train taken in the Republic of China are worth exploring

With the evolution of time, these articles are still well preserved, and also have the great significance of inheriting and witnessing history

Now the awareness of forestry conservation is rising. In addition to thinking deeply about environmental issues under the concept of ecological management, sustainable development has become an important issue. The idea displayed by the museum hopes that Alishan, forest railway and Jiayi timber industry will form a brilliant and epochal scene in the past 100 years

In order to show the new life of the old buildings, we plan to present the essence of the story of Ali's forestry centenary to tourists.

(National Highway 1)

go down south:

National Highway No.1 → get off at 264k Jiayi interchange (go to Jiayi city) → turn left to Beigang Road (159 County Road) → turn right to Yuzhu road → turn left to Jietai 18 road (Alishan Road) → you can reach Alishan Forest Recreation Area.

go up north:

National Highway No.1 → connecting to tai82 East West Expressway (to Jiayi) at 272K → National Highway No.3 → under Zhongpu interchange at 297k → connecting to tai18 (Alishan highway) → you can reach Alishan Forest Recreation Area.

(No.3 national highway goes south and North)

National Highway No.3 → get off Zhongpu interchange at 297k → connect with line 18 (Alishan highway) → you can reach Alishan Forest Recreation Area.

Mass transport:

1. Passenger transport:

County bus on the right side of Jiayi railway station → Alishan (take bus 1835, 6739, 7322, 7329)

2. Train:

Take the train to Jiayi railway station and then take the bus. Alishan Forest Railway is only open to fenqi lake. (to Alishan station, it has not been opened to traffic due to disaster)
