Management ownership

In April 2000, in order to facilitate the daily management, the relevant departments handed over the management right of Shuifeng reservoir to Liaoning Provincial Department of ocean and fishery. Now, Liaoning Provincial Bureau of fishery administration and fishing port supervision (Liaoning Shuifeng reservoir fishery Ship Inspection Bureau of the people's Republic of China) directly under Liaoning Provincial Department of ocean and fishery is in charge of fishery related matters.

It is the largest reservoir in Northeast China and an integral part of Yalu River National Scenic Area. From Shuifeng dam to Dongjiang, it covers an area of 274 square kilometers and is 90 kilometers away from Dandong City. The vegetation in the reservoir area is rich, which is similar to the original state. There are many peaks on both sides of the reservoir, which are integrated with the river.

Shuifeng scenic area takes Shuifeng reservoir as the core, with a vast and open river. The Shuifeng dam, 900 meters long and 146 meters high, was a rare high dam of cement structure in the world. Panlongyu pill Island 18 bend, island has a wonder, bend see deep, mountains around the water, people sigh for the view. Green River scenic area is simple and natural, such as ink painting in Ming and Qing Dynasties. The south gate is full of dangerous peaks and surging blue waves at the foot of the mountain; the xiaoqinggou cave is deep and wild; and the Shizhu village, where the king of ginseng "yizhushen" comes from, has fantastic stone pillars standing against trees.

From Shuifeng dam to Dongjiang, 90 kilometers away from the city center, the reservoir area is rich in vegetation, approximate to the original state. There are many peaks on both sides of the reservoir, which are integrated with the river.

Lowest water level

On June 10, 2015, Dandong maritime administration of Liaoning Province announced that due to less precipitation, the water level of Shuifeng reservoir was reduced by more than 10 meters compared with that of normal years, and the navigation of ships in the upstream of the reservoir was limited. The sea patrol boat sails from the reservoir dam to the upstream Green River scenic area. The field survey of sounding equipment shows that the shallowest part of the river water is about 1 meter, which is the lowest since the dam was built in 1943.

The main reason for the decrease of water level in the reservoir area is that the rainfall in the upper reaches of the Yalu River continues to be less and the inflow water also decreases. This effect has been apparent since 2014. The direct consequence is that the river water velocity increases, the crew is not easy to control the direction of the ship, and there is a great possibility of grounding accidents.

Dandong Maritime Bureau issued a navigation warning, requiring the cruise ships to stop sailing temporarily. Due to the closure of fishing season, the water freight of Yalu River has not been greatly affected.
