Xuangu temple is located 2 kilometers southwest of Yunxi County, Shiyan City, Hubei Province, with an altitude of 440 meters and a total area of 5 square kilometers. It is located in Hengling, more than 500 meters high. Near the top, there is a red gravel cliff. It is several feet high and steep. There is a transverse crack on it. It contains a piece that is slightly flat like a drum and weighs several tons. It is inclined downward and does not want to fall, so it is named Xuangu.

In the early Qing Dynasty, a temple was built beside the rock, named Xuangu temple. There are six corner pavilions in the view for "Poets" to drink and write poems. There is also Guanyu Pavilion, on which you can have a panoramic view of the scenery around the county. It is one of the eight sceneries in Yunxi (hanging drum and green mountain).
