The National Stadium, formerly known as the main stadium of the world games, or Longteng stadium, is a comprehensive stadium in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. It is the largest stadium in Taiwan at present. It is prepared by the Sports Committee of the Executive Yuan in response to the bid to host the international comprehensive games and the 2009 World Games. It has entrusted the new engineering office of the public works bureau of the Kaohsiung Municipal government to handle the construction.
The National Stadium is an open stadium with 40350 seats, which can be increased to 55000 seats according to the actual situation. It is an international stadium for the first class certification of IAAF and the first class certification of IAAF. It is also the world's first stadium with 1mpw (megawatt) solar power generation capacity (the roof of the stadium uses up to 8844 pieces of glass compressed solar energy) It is composed of a photoelectric plate. The opening and closing ceremonies of the 2009 World Games are held in this venue.
