Hangzhou Normal University

In 1956, Hangzhou Teachers College was born on the Bank of Xizi Lake in Hangzhou.

In June 1958, Zhejiang provincial Party committee and provincial people's Committee decided to upgrade Hangzhou Normal College to normal college (the name of the college is to be determined). Later, it decided to name it "Jinhua Normal University" and move to Jinhua, a city in central Zhejiang Province.

At the end of October 1959, the Zhejiang provincial Party committee and the provincial people's Committee officially decided to name the University "Hangzhou Normal University".

Zhejiang Normal University

On August 30, 1962, with the approval of the State Council, Hangzhou Normal University, Zhejiang Institute of education and Zhejiang Institute of physical education were merged and renamed Zhejiang Normal University.

On the eve of the "Cultural Revolution" in the mid-1960s, Zhejiang Normal University began to step into turbulence and uneasiness.

In the first ten days of August 1965, the provincial Party committee made a new concrete decision: the Department of physical education and the Department of foreign languages were merged into Hangzhou University; the Department of teaching and research remained in Hangzhou and became the Department of teaching and research of the Provincial Department of Education (later rebuilt as Zhejiang Institute of Education); the three departments of Chinese, mathematics and physics were moved to Jinhua with the University.

In 1980, it was listed as a provincial key university.

Zhejiang Normal University

In 1985, the people's Government of Zhejiang Province issued the "reply on changing Zhejiang Normal University into Zhejiang Normal University".

In 1993, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as an authorized unit for master's degree.

In 1998, it was approved as the training unit of master of education.

In 2009, the University became the construction unit of doctoral degree authorization.

In 2000, 2001 and 2004, Zhejiang finance school, Zhejiang preschool normal school and Jinhua railway driver school were merged into Zhejiang Normal University.

In July 2014, according to the reply of the general office of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government on adjusting the school running system of Xiaoshan campus of Zhejiang Ocean University, 350 mu of land and above ground buildings in Xiaoshan campus of Zhejiang Ocean University were transferred to Zhejiang Normal University as a whole to establish Xiaoshan campus of Zhejiang Normal University, which is mainly used for the construction and development of Hangzhou kindergarten Normal University and special education normal major. Xiaoshan campus began to recruit students in the name of Zhejiang Normal University in September 2014.

In July 2014, it was rated as a national university with typical employment experience by the Ministry of education. In December, he was selected into the excellent teacher training program of the Ministry of education.

In 2015, it was selected as the first batch of key construction universities in Zhejiang Province. In December of the same year, Hangzhou Institute of higher learning of Zhejiang Normal University was established in Xiaoshan campus.

In 2016, it was selected into the national "111" plan, and the innovation and talent introduction base of graph and network optimization became one of the 15 innovation and talent introduction bases of the first batch of local universities. In May of the same year, Zhejiang Normal University and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly build the national technology transfer Zhejiang sub center of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics and Hangzhou Institute of higher learning.
