Naiman desert
Naiman desert is located in the north of Naiman Banner, Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, which belongs to small desert in area. Because it is close to Naiman Banner, it has bred a profound northern nomadic culture.
The Xilamulun River and Laoha River, the "grandmother River" of the Chinese nation, meet here and become the starting point of Xiliao River.

Main rivers
The rivers flowing through the Naiman desert include the "grandmother River" Xilamulun River from the Great Xing'an Mountains, and the Laoha River from the Yanshan hilly area in northern Hebei Province. The Xilamulun river passes through the northern side of the Naiman desert, and the Laoha river passes through the Naiman desert. The two rivers converge in the northern side of the Naiman desert and become the starting point of the Xiliao River.
