Sanmenxia Museum

Sanmenxia City Museum is located in the Western Shaanxi scenic area, north of the pagoda of Baolun temple. It is a comprehensive museum built in November 1989 on the basis of 2 million yuan donated by Japanese friend Ichiro Ishikawa.

Sanmenxia Museum covers an area of 44000 square meters, with a construction area of 3200 square meters. The general architectural style is: there is a garden in the museum, there is a museum in the garden, simple and solemn, beautiful and elegant.

Collection

The museum mainly collects historical relics and specimens of natural resources unearthed in Sanmenxia area, with nearly 3000 pieces of cultural relics, including bronzes, pottery, jade, iron, porcelain, etc., showing the world the splendid cultural heritage and rich resources of Sanmenxia since ancient times.

There are "Sanmenxia historical and cultural exhibition" and "Sanmenxia Mineral Resources Exhibition".

Sanmenxia historical relics exhibition is held to show the ancient Yellow River culture and let more people know the long history of Sanmenxia. It is divided into four parts: stone tools, Shang and Zhou dynasties, Qin and Han Dynasties, Tang and Song dynasties. The exhibits of each era are unearthed in Sanmenxia area.

Sanmenxia mineral resources exhibition is divided into six groups: energy, non-ferrous metals, precious metals, ferrous metals, non-metallic and mineral water. It shows Sanmenxia's rich mineral resources by using specimens, models, pictures, display of finished products, light, electricity and other modern technologies and expression techniques.

Function value

Sanmenxia museum holds different types of exhibition activities, reflecting the construction achievements of Sanmenxia City, the simple and honest folk customs in western Henan, and the historical overview from Dayu's water control to modern management, development and utilization of the Yellow River.
