Junwu Forest Park, named after Mr. Ma Junwu, the first president of Guangxi University, is located in Shatang Town, the northern suburb of Liuzhou city. It was originally an affiliated forest farm of Guangxi forestry school and was founded in 1927.

In 1998, the Forestry Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (Guilin Jiji Zi [1998] No. 71) approved the establishment of an autonomous regional forest park (120 hectares), namely Liuzhou Junwu autonomous regional forest park.

The forest coverage rate of the park is 85.5%, with rich plant and animal resources and beautiful ecological environment. It is about 20 km away from the center of Liuzhou City, with convenient transportation and communication. Junwu Forest Park, as an important part of urban green space in Liuzhou City, is the green pearl and green barrier in the northern suburb of Liuzhou city. The park is characterized by dense forest and gentle terrain, with rare tall and straight pine forest, beautiful and rich coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest landscape, gentle and transparent space under the forest, and fresh and quiet forest environment. The park enjoys the reputation of "green tour, suburban tourism and popular science education". It is an ideal place for Liuzhou citizens to go for outing, leisure and entertainment.

The park has dense vegetation and many forest landscapes characterized by ancient pine forest. The over mature Pinus massoniana forest with an area of about 165.8hm2 is the best and most spectacular pine forest in the park. It is also a successful example of the oldest and largest existing artificial pine forest in Guangxi. The tree is more than 70 years old, with a height of about 30m. The trunk is tall and straight, majestic and straight. It is like an old man in the forest, full of ancient flavor, broad and luxuriant crown, and like an umbrella. Walking in the forest, such as exposure to the vast forest, smelling the floating rosin, stepping on the soft pine needles, listening to the waves, a quiet scene, intoxicating. In addition to the ancient plant landscape of Cangsong, there is also a vigorous Rhododendron slope. Rhododendron slope is located on the gentle slope of the east side of Taoli lake. There are about 18600 rhododendrons of four species on the island. In spring, rhododendrons are in full bloom, peach blossoms are in full bloom, and mountain flowers are brilliant. Tourists stroll among them, just like roaming the sea of flowers, feeling wild and fragrant, enjoying the romantic atmosphere of spring. Azalea Festival has become a major feature of the park. In addition to azalea, the island is also supplemented by cherry blossom, autumn maple and other foliage plants, which is a good place to enjoy spring flowers and autumn colors.

Junwu Forest Park is a rare green space in the suburbs of Liuzhou, with 29 forest landscape types, especially the Masson pine forest landscape built in 1943. It is the oldest and rare artificial forest landscape in Guangxi. It is planned to build a suburban forest park with the main functions of leisure and recreation, science popularization, health and recuperation.

Since the development and construction of Junwu Forest Park, a total of 67.621 million yuan has been invested. The investment completed in 2012 was 22.906 million yuan, and the main income in 2014 was 217.29 yuan. In 2014, the main work is to apply for construction and site leveling construction in the early stage of health resort; to build Miao, Dong and Yao ethnic customs area projects; to increase park amusement facilities, infrastructure and to set up mountaineering and walking paths and other projects. In October 2012, it won the "cultural industry demonstration base of Guangxi Autonomous Region", and in 2014, it established the "Junwu ethnic customs Museum of Liuzhou City".
