Zhaiming Temple
Zhaiming temple is a traditional farm courtyard, showing the simple style of the Buddhist temple. The green grass, flowers and trees in the temple are sparse, quiet and elegant. In 1929, the "Cuiling pagoda" was added after the temple. Due to the different construction time of Zhaiming temple and Cuiling pagoda, the structure of the former does not deviate from the traditional Chinese style, while the latter is a modern cement building. From this, we can see the architectural style of different periods.
Zhaiming temple is located on the 3rd provincial road from Daxi town to Longtan, Taoyuan County, Taiwan. It was founded in the reign of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty. It is the oldest Buddhist temple in Daxi Town, and has been listed as a class III historic site. The whole temple covers an area of about 2-3a. It is opposite to Daxi street across the Dahan river. The environment is quiet and elegant. It has a beautiful view from a distance and a close view.
The only copy of Qisha Sutra of Song Dynasty in Taiwan is preserved in the temple. It is a precious woodcut version which took 91 years to complete after three generations of saints and nuns broke their arms in the song and Yuan Dynasties.
