Historical evolution

Liuchi lane was built in the reign of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (1662-1722).

In the winter of 1733, Zhang Tingyu was ordered to return to his hometown to offer sacrifices to his father and sprinkle wine on Yao's funeral home. He wrote a poem that said, "yesterday I checked the ink from the makeup building, but Ban Zhao still had some incomplete works." he also wrote a poem that said, "I'll send the tears of an Ren to Jiming and jiedan people.".

In 1956, when Mao Zedong met with Eugene, the Soviet ambassador to China, he once said a poem: "the Great Wall is still here today, but we can't see the first emperor of Qin Dynasty". The origin of this poem is related to the "Liuchi lane" in Tongcheng, Anhui Province.

In 1985, the Tongcheng municipal government announced "Liuchi lane" as a key cultural relics protection unit of Tongcheng city.

In 1993, the relevant departments of Anhui provincial government allocated special funds for partial restoration.

In 1999, Tongcheng municipal government allocated special funds to rebuild and expand the site.

In 2002, on the basis of the original site, Tongcheng City restored Liuchi lane. The restoration is based on the height of the original wall, the practice of the wall, and the restoration face of the ground.

On November 21, 2006, after visiting Liuchi lane, Tang Jiaxuan, then state councilor, wrote an inscription: "Tongcheng Liuchi lane, a harmonious and famous city.".

On February 21, 2008, Wu Yi, then Vice Premier of the State Council, visited Tongcheng and Liuchi lane.

On November 15, 2014, Wang Qishan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, visited Liuchi Lane in Tongcheng, Anhui Province.

In 2016, Tongcheng city developed and upgraded liuchixiang area.

Overview

Liuchi Lane starts from xihou street in the East and ends at baizitang in the West. In the south of the lane is prime minister Zhang Yingzai's residence, and in the north of the lane is Wu's residence, with a total length of 100 meters and a width of 2 meters. The reason why the allusion of "Liuchi lane" has become a historical story stems from the land dispute between Zhang Jia and his neighbors.

During the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, Zhang Ying served as the bachelor and Minister of rites of Wenhua hall. The official residence in Tongcheng, his hometown, is adjacent to the Wu family. There is an alley between the two courtyards for both sides to use. Later, the Wu family wanted to build a new house and wanted to occupy this road, but the people of Zhang family didn't agree. The dispute continued, and the case was brought to the local county government. Considering that the two families were famous families, the county magistrate did not dare to end it easily.

At this time, in a rage, Zhang sent an urgent letter to Zhang Ying, asking him to solve the problem. After reading the letter, Zhang Ying thought that he should be humble to his neighbors. In his reply to his family, he wrote four sentences: "a book from a thousand miles is only a wall. Why don't you let him be three feet? The Great Wall is still here today. We can't see the first emperor of Qin Dynasty. " The family read it, understood the meaning and offered three feet of space. The Wu family was deeply moved by this, and they also voluntarily gave up the sanchifang base, hence the name of "liuchixiang".

Zhang Ying, a native of Tongcheng, Anhui Province, is a famous official of the Qing Dynasty.

The neighbor Wu's family, whose identity has not been recorded in history, is generally considered to be a civilian engaged in business or study.
