Shaanxi Normal University, abbreviated as "Shaanxi Normal University", is located in Xi'an, the world's famous historical and cultural city. It is one of the six key normal universities directly under the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. School history

In 1944, Shaanxi Provincial teachers college was founded.

Mr. Hao Yaodong, a famous educator, became the president of Shaanxi Normal College.

In 1945, the Department of education of the College of Arts of national Northwest University was established.

In August 1949, according to the order of Xi'an military control commission, Shaanxi Normal College was incorporated into the Education Department of Northwest University and established the normal college of Northwest University.

In 1952, the northwest military and political Commission decided to set up the normal college of Northwest University independently. The college began to build near wujiafen village in the southern suburb of Xi'an. By the end of this year, the basic construction had been completed.

In 1954, it was merged into the normal college of Northwest University.

In August 1954, the normal college of Northwest University was renamed Xi'an normal college. Liu zeru was the president of the school. The school was further developed and expanded. National and local leaders visited the school many times. In order to further develop secondary education, Shaanxi Provincial People's government has expanded and established Shaanxi Normal College on the basis of Shaanxi secondary education teacher training class.

In August 1956, on the basis of Shaanxi Normal College, Shaanxi provincial government integrated the chemistry department and Biology Department of Xi'an normal college to establish Shaanxi Normal College. The college is adjacent to the famous wild goose pagoda, with a total construction area of 66000 square meters and an area of 38.7 hectares. Its birth has greatly promoted the development of China's secondary education, especially the development of Shaanxi's basic education and the improvement of people's cultural quality.

In the spring of 1960, Shaanxi Provincial People's Committee decided to merge Xi'an Normal University (former Northwest University Normal University) with Shaanxi Normal University to establish Shaanxi Normal University

In February 1978, the State Council approved the school to be managed by Shaanxi Province and put under the direct management of the Ministry of education. Shaanxi Normal University has become one of the six key normal universities directly under the Ministry of education and has been highly concerned by national leaders.

In August 1981, Li Xiannian and other central leaders met with representatives of the National Conference on Ideological and political work, and Li Mian, President of the school, attended the conference.

In November 1981, with the approval of the State Council, the University became one of the first batch of doctoral and master degree awarding units in China.

In December 2005, Shaanxi Normal University entered the national "211 Project" construction and became the key construction University of the national "211 Project".

In May 2013, Shaanxi Normal University was awarded "2012-2013 National Graduate Employment typical experience university" by the Ministry of education.

In May 2017, Shaanxi Normal University, Northwest University, Xi'an Foreign Studies University, Northwest University of political science and law, and Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications jointly established the "Chang'an alliance" of Shaanxi universities.

In June 2017, Shaanxi Normal University was recognized by the Ministry of education as "the second batch of national model universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform".

In September 2017, Shaanxi Normal University was selected as one of the first batch of world-class discipline construction universities in China, and Chinese language and literature entered the "double first-class" construction discipline list.

In March 2018, Shaanxi Normal University added three first-class doctoral degree programs, one first-class master degree program, and two professional degree authorization programs.

In November 2019, Shaanxi Normal University's "Shaanxi shadow play inheritance base" was selected as the national excellent traditional Chinese culture inheritance base of ordinary universities.
