Basic introduction

Leisure square, formerly known as Jingdezhen people's Square, is located in the center of Jingdezhen city. Leisure square is a famous landmark of Jingdezhen City, and its surrounding area is also the commercial center of Jingdezhen. Jingdezhen leisure square used to be a standard sports ground, including the podium in the East, with a total construction area of about 34000 square meters. Together with the Jingdezhen gymnasium in the north of the square, it forms the sports center of Jingdezhen city. After a thorough transformation, the square was built into today's garden style city square. The original sports function was replaced by the park function.

To the east of the square are the Square South Road Commercial Street and Jingdezhen library; to the South and southwest are the porcelain street of Jingdezhen (lianshe Road, the famous jinchangli ceramic market is also on this street); to the west is the prosperous Zhushan Road Commercial Street; to the north are the Jingdezhen gymnasium and square North Road commercial street.

In the west of the leisure square and the small square to the east of lianshe Road, there are many sculptures reflecting the porcelain making situation of Jingdezhen. They are vivid and helpful for tourists to understand the process of Jingdezhen porcelain making. This place has become a must for tourists, and is one of the famous landmark scenic spots of Jingdezhen ceramic culture.

History and transformation

The original site of people's Square (Leisure Square) was a ridge of land in the 1950s. It was built in 1956 for the needs of assembly activities at that time. It can accommodate 50000 people. Later, it was gradually transformed into a sports square.

The square covers an area of 34000 square meters (including the rostrum and a section of South Square Road), with 22000 square meters of track and field and football fields in the center. The road around is unobstructed, with the rostrum (City Library), veteran cadre activity center and science and technology building in the East, the fifth middle school in the south, the basketball court, the elderly gate court and the viewing platform in the west, and the gymnasium, maternal and child health care center and Guangming cinema across Zhushan middle road in the north. In 1982, green facilities and railings were set around the square. The northeast section of the square is temporarily the bus, passenger vehicle parking and individual clothing market.

At that time, the management department of Jingdezhen city thought that people's Square as a sports ground did not have the conditions, mainly because the surrounding traffic was complex and the environment was bad. It is necessary to transform the function of the square to meet the needs of urban development.

Then, Jingdezhen city implemented the transformation plan of the original square. After the transformation, the square covers an area of 27092 square meters, a green area of 10649.4 square meters, and a water area of 724.6 square meters. The square is divided into four functional areas: elderly activity area, children activity area, sparse forest lawn and leisure activity area. In accordance with the "people-oriented" design concept and in line with the aesthetic needs of people returning to nature, hydrophilic and near green, the application of modern science and technology has been fully demonstrated in the design. In the center of the square, there are music fountain with a diameter of 30 meters and 24 fan-shaped flower beds. On the east-west axis of the square, a viewing platform is designed by using the elevation difference of the terrain. On the platform, there are a group of bronze sculptures and 18 water pines reflecting the ceramic production process. The water flows down from the platform to form a beautiful waterfall. Under the platform are the coffee shop, central control room and luxury public toilets. The main entrance to the north is equipped with stone benches, floor lamps, lawn lamps, floodlights, blind paths and ramps for the disabled, especially the public toilets It is 18 large-scale ceramic lamps with novel shapes, which fully display the profound ceramic culture development process of Jingdezhen in front of the world with limited pictures, forming a unique cultural landscape of a historical and cultural city.

The municipal government of Jingdezhen has also built a large-scale specialized market around the square, the international trade square, and banned the night stalls on the South Road of the square to improve the traffic order around the square.

Traffic guidelines

Leisure square is the most central area of Jingdezhen, with convenient transportation. It is the hub of public transportation in Jingdezhen. Buses from here can reach almost anywhere in the urban area of Jingdezhen, and it is also very convenient to take a taxi in the square.

Beijing Olympic Games

In response to the Olympic Games, the Olympic time plate was set up in Jingdezhen leisure square 365 days before the opening of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
