Mengtai Park

Mengtai Park

Mengtai park is the only park named after a model worker in China. It is located in the center of Lishan District, Anshan City, Liaoning Province, and at the intersection of Zhonghua Road and Anqian road. The park is rectangular, with a total area of 64.8 hectares, and its highest point is Lishan, also known as Liangting mountain. Mengtai Park, named after Mengtai, the first generation of labor model in New China, is the largest park integrating leisure, entertainment and viewing in Lishan District of Anshan City. It is also the patriotic education base of Anshan City.

Park overview

Mengtai Park, formerly known as Lishan Park, was built in September 1958 and renamed as Anshan Mengtai park on May 1, 1993. It will be open to the public free of charge on March 25, 2001

From 2007 to 2008, Anshan Municipal government invested 17 million yuan in the large-scale reconstruction of Mengtai park. The first phase of the project is mainly the construction of the landscape waterfall, and the second phase is mainly the renovation of the Central Avenue of the park

. Central Avenue is 370 meters long and 27 meters wide, with 108 cloves on both sides of the avenue. After transformation, the overall appearance of Mengtai park takes on a new look.

Statue of Mengtai

In order to commemorate Meng Tai, the first generation of famous labor model and old hero in New China, the trade union of Anshan Iron and steel company, the Lishan district Party committee and the district government moved the bronze statue of Meng Tai, which was originally standing in front of Dabai building of Anshan Iron and steel company's office building, to Lishan park on May 1, 1993, and the park was renamed "Meng Tai Park".

On June 9, 2008, in order to cooperate with the second phase reconstruction of Mengtai Park and highlight the theme of "model worker", the statue of Mengtai was removed from the original site

On August 12, the statue of Mengtai appeared on the Central Avenue square of Mengtai park
