Samadhi Water

Out of the northwest of Chengdu, drive 50 kilometers from Chengpeng highway, along the stone path on the west side of Zhenguo temple tower, enter the mountain for about 7 or 8 miles, and you will see the holy land of Samadhi.

Samadhi Water has five remarkable places: Thousand Buddha cliff, stone archway, lower samadhi, middle samadhi and upper Samadhi. These five places are connected by a zigzag stone path from bottom to top along the road to Deshan. The statues of Qianfo cliff are perched on the Qianfo cliff at the foot of Zhide mountain. Up to now, there are 37 niches in the statue, which are various and lifelike. Yanming Avalokitesvara, who "leads and connects all living beings" in the stone carvings, is covered with Tassels and ribbons. A thousand hands are used to enforce the law. Luohan, whose head is supported by his hands, sits up in the sky with a clear air and a safe posture. The judge, who is holding the paper, wears a double winged official hat and speaks with emotion A stone statue full of religious and mythological color was first created in the Tang Dynasty, and then increased in successive dynasties. As for the end of the Qing Dynasty, a large group of stone statues on thousand Buddha cliff was finally integrated.

The stone archway on the thousand Buddha cliff was built in the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. The archway, with three stories of double eaves, is majestic and holds Zhide pass. The pattern inscriptions on both sides of the archway are exquisite, which can be called the top quality of stone carving art. The name of the archway above the front of the archway is "Samadhi Water". On the archway, the banners such as "tianchongbaogai", "diyongquanquan", "historic sites in the prosperous Tang Dynasty", "Gujing Quanxiang" and so on, make people appreciate all kinds of things; on the downstairs, the couplets such as "if you want to know the poor way, you must make progress, if you don't know the historic sites, you must climb on it", "when you go in and out of the court, you can take the moon to deliberate at dusk", "beautiful bell, samadhi, the mountains and nine peaks" are fascinating.

There are two pools in front of the archway. The water in the upper pool is as clear as a mirror. The water splashes down from the boulders and flows into the lower pool among the brambles. The bamboo trees around the archway make the archway more elegant and smart. Along the stone steps, through the stone gate under the archway, you can get to Samadhi. In ancient times, there was an'guo temple. Although the temple has fallen, there are still many ancient steles and murals. The Buddhist stories reflected in the murals are pleasing to the eye. The stone column couplet "Peng ang shows off his anger for a moment and Chao mistakenly thinks about the eternal injustice" arouses people's deep thought and imagination. There are many springs beside the temple, which are connected everywhere. The gully in front of the temple is covered by vines. The sound of the spring at the bottom of the ditch is pleasant and refreshing. Beside the ditch is a stone tablet of "samadhi Holy Land" in Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty. The inscription completely records the origin of samadhi holy land and the beginning and end of Wu Da's use of Samadhi Water to heal facial sores in Tang Dynasty. Similar to the inscriptions of the records scattered in (pengxianzhi). In the ancient books of Fang Yu Sheng Lan, the records of places of interest in Shu, and the Buddhist Classics (Samadhi Water confession) printed in the Buddhist circulation Office of Hong Kong. Although the inscriptions are strange, Samadhi Water is a kind of mineral water beneficial to physical and mental health, which has been confirmed by the practice of later generations.

From the lower samadhi to the upper samadhi is the middle Samadhi. In ancient times, there was a "Zhide Temple" granted by the Song Dynasty's governor. It is composed of three broad halls. Today, there is a heavy (being repaired) carved hexagonal stone column, on which there are inscriptions from the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. Other inscriptions are mostly relics of the former Qing Dynasty. Here, I often hear the pines and the ancient springs. Looking at the mountains, you can see that there are many mountains and clouds rising. It seems that the peaks bow to each other and come to the court in turn. It can make people appreciate the victory of "beautiful bell, samadhi, mountain ranges and nine peaks". In the west of samadhi, there is a platform across the stream, with auspicious light and purple mist. In this auspicious light and mist, there is a stone tower towering, which is the tomb of Wu Da. The green pines behind the pagoda bring rain, and the green bamboos in front of the pagoda leave clouds. The clouds are connected with the distant sky. The pagoda floats at the head of the clouds, which is a pure place in the West.

From the middle three tastes to the upper samadhi, the road is very dangerous. There are Shuiting temple and shengshuiting temple in shangsanwei ancient times. In the Five Dynasties, Shuiting temple was called guangmingyuan. Wang Yan, the former Emperor of Shu, once traveled here. It is recorded in the Ming Dynasty's famous places in Shu. Later generations call it "the old way of Wang Yan", which still exists today. Shuiting Temple no longer exists, but the Shengshui pavilion built in the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty is still completely hidden in the bamboo trees on the cliff. The pavilion is octagonal and made of stone. The top of the pavilion is carved with a whole stone. The lines carved on the top of the pavilion are fluent and symmetrical, and the carved stone beads are smooth and round. The whole stone pavilion is exquisitely shaped and unique. There is a stone statue of Guanyin in the pavilion, which is solemn, kind and warm. There is a cliff nest above the pavilion, about Zhang long and about two meters wide. There are springs from the cliff, not dry in winter, not overflow in summer. This is the place where Master Wuda washed people's face.

A hundred steps away from the stone pavilion, i.e. to the top of Zhide mountain, looking thousands of miles away, the sea of clouds is vast and the color is changeable; overlooking Pingchuan. Jianjiang is like training, and mountains are like boxing. The feeling of "climbing Mount Tai and making the world small" arises spontaneously. If the mountain is not high, there will be immortals; if the water is not deep, there will be dragons. Samadhi Water is well-known both in ancient and modern times. In its beautiful mountains, it is also the God of water.
