Dazhang ancient porcelain kiln site in Zhaili

In 1957, when the city's first general survey of cultural relics was conducted, it was found that they were mainly distributed in the highland between Zhaili and Dazhang village, Zhaili Township, Zichuan District, covering an area of about 220000 square meters. Under the cultivated soil layer of the kiln site, there was a layer of porcelain pieces, about 40-100 cm thick.

After years of land leveling and partial excavation, a large number of porcelain pieces were unearthed, all of which were blue glaze. The utensils are simple, mostly for daily use, mainly including bowls, pots, high foot plates, etc. Bowl deep abdomen, straight mouth, the lower part of the abdomen without glaze, some bowl wall decorated with lotus petal pattern. The pot is of four series, with curved belly, flat bottom and grey body, and no glaze at the bottom of the outer belly. The high foot plate is bean shaped with no glaze at the bottom. These wares are usually heavy in shape, primitive in workmanship, and not pure in glaze color. The kiln furniture mostly uses three foot nails, which has the characteristics of early firing. The kiln site was fired from the Northern Qi Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty, and is the only northern celadon producing area found in China at present. In 1984, it was designated as a municipal key cultural relics protection unit.
