Ancient city site of Liao Dynasty
The ancient city site of Liao Dynasty is the site of Humeng cultural relic station. During the recent investigation in Zhalantun, the archaeological team successively discovered the site of Liao Dynasty and unearthed a number of precious cultural relics. There are three Liao Dynasty sites, two of which are ancient Liao Dynasty sites.
In Zhalantun, polished stone pieces from the Neolithic and Paleolithic periods four or five thousand years ago, hundreds of ancient copper coins from the Northern Song Dynasty, as well as silver, bronze and ornaments from the Liao and Jin dynasties have been excavated.
According to records, the southeast of Daxinganling was ruled by the state of Jin in the Northern Song Dynasty. In the past, sites and cultural relics of Jin Dynasty have been found many times. The discovery of these Liao Dynasty sites and cultural relics not only provides new materials for the study of northern ethnic history and local history, but also puts forward new research topics for the historians, which has attracted wide attention of historians. Recently, the people's Government of Zhalantun city has listed the ancient city sites of Gaotaizi and Jiucun as the key cultural relics protection units of the city
