Swan Lake National Urban Wetland Park, located in the ecological zone between the East and West urban areas of Sanmenxia City, has an area of 8850 mu, including 6150 mu of land, 2700 mu of water surface and beach. The core scenic spot includes Shuanglong Lake White Swan viewing area, Shanzhou ancient city and ecological forest belt along the Yellow River. It is a natural landscape scenic spot integrating ecology, culture and human geography.

About the park

The scenic spot is located in the ecological area of the urban area. It starts from Jinchang overpass in the East, ends at the intersection of Shanzhou Avenue and yanhuangguanguang road in the west, connects Shanzhou Avenue in the south, and ends at the Yellow River beach in the north. The planned area is 590 hectares. It is gradually built on the basis of the renovation of the ruins of the old city of Shanzhou and the two rivers of Qinglong and Canglong. The purpose of planning and construction of Swan Lake scenic spot is to make Sanmenxia have an urban ecological park with 5000 mu of water all year round, 30000 mu of water surface and 50000 mu of forest land during the water storage period. From November to March every year, the park attracts tens of thousands of white swans to live here for the winter, so Sanmenxia City is known as "the city of Swans".

Sanmenxia City is located in the mid latitude inland area, most of which have a warm temperate continental monsoon climate. The annual average temperature is 13.8 ℃, the annual average sunshine is 2261.7 hours, the frost free period is 216 days, and the average annual precipitation is 580-680mm. Due to the complexity of geomorphic features, it has formed a multi climate with warm temperate zone, temperate zone and cold temperate zone.

Honor of scenic spot

Swan Lake National Urban Wetland Park, with white swan characteristic resources as the brand, Guoshan island as the center, and Yellow River, Qinglong lake and Canglong Lake as the main natural landscape scenic spots, has gradually formed, attracting more and more tourists to stop and linger; the ecological, tourism, leisure, sightseeing, science popularization and other functions of the wetland park are increasingly prominent.

In February 2007, the park was named Sanmenxia Swan Lake National Urban Wetland Park by the Ministry of construction, also known as Swan Lake scenic area.

In 2011, Sanmenxia Swan Lake Urban Wetland Park was rated as "national AAAA tourist attraction" by the National Tourism Administration.

In 2011, Sanmenxia City was awarded the honorary title of "China's swan town" by the National Wildlife Protection Association.
