From Duxiu mountain to Swan mountain, there is a stone cave eight meters high and ten meters wide. It is said that Cao ye once read books here, so there are five characters "Cao ye read rock" on the stone wall of Yankou.

brief introduction

A natural rock. It is said that it was the reading place of Cao ye, a famous poet of Yangshuo in the late Tang Dynasty. In the old days, ciguang Temple (also known as Chengbei Temple) was built here, but now it has no existence. Xie Jin, a scholar of Ming Dynasty, wrote a poem: "in zhongchengbei Temple of Yangshuo County, people say that CaoYe lived in the old time, but nianshen temple was abandoned without monks, only Shiyan name was used to study." (the poem is carved on the stone wall in front of the rock.).

Now there is a Yangshuo library beside the cave, and a "reading Pavilion" in the peach and plum garden behind the mountain.

Cao Ye

Cao Ye was born in Yangshuo, a famous poet in the late Tang Dynasty. He passed the imperial examination in the fourth year of Dazhong (850 AD) of the Tang Dynasty. He was the first person to pass the imperial examination in Northeast Guangxi. He once served as a doctor in the ancestral temple department. In his later years, he resigned and returned to his hometown, living a life of "sweeping leaves, frying tea and picking leaves". Shushuyan is the place where he studied when he was young.

What to watch

On the stone wall on the right side of Yankou are five character huge cliff inscriptions of "CaoYe study rock" and CaoYe poems.
