Statue of Yellow River mother
Located in the middle section of Binhe Road on the South Bank of the Yellow River in Qilihe district, Lanzhou City, the sculpture of mother of the Yellow River is the work of He E, a famous female sculptor in Gansu Province. It was completed by Beijing sculpture factory on April 30, 1986. Covering an area of 40 square meters, the sculpture is composed of a base and a statue. It is a red granite round sculpture with a length of 6 meters, a width of 2.2 meters, a height of 2.6 meters, and a total weight of more than 40 tons. The sculpture is composed of "mother" and "baby boy". The composition of the sculpture is refined and profound. It symbolizes the feeding of the Chinese nation's living and indomitable Yellow River mother and the happy and healthy Chinese descendants. The base of the sculpture is engraved with water ripple and fish pattern, which originated from the original pattern of ancient painted pottery in Gansu Province, reflecting the long history and culture of Gansu Province. With its unique aesthetic value and ideological connotation, it has become a landmark scenic spot in Lanzhou city.
