Laershan plateau platform is located in the northwest of Fenghuang County. It is an extension of Yunnan Guizhou Plateau, with a total area of 333.23 square kilometers. Generally, the altitude is about 800 meters. Laershan on the edge of the platform is 1200 meters above sea level, which is the highest peak on the platform.

The plateau is an alpine area in the county, with changeable weather, rainy days and long freezing period. The annual average temperature is about 14 degrees centigrade, and the first frost and snow period is about 20 days earlier than that in the southeast of the county. Laershan plateau platform is a natural zoo, with wild rabbits, wild boars, wild sheep, monkey faced eagle, rock eagle, golden rooster, deer, muntjac, musk deer, Fox and other birds and animals; laershan plateau platform is a natural medicine storehouse, rich in Gastrodia elata, Ganoderma lucidum, ginseng, Codonopsis pilosula, an arrow, a yellow flower, Dipsacus asperata, snow lotus and other precious medicinal materials.

The laershan platform has been the core area where the Miao people live in the border areas of Hunan, Guizhou and Sichuan (Chongqing) since ancient times. The strong Miao people here are the main defense objects for the origin of the great wall of southern China. The fuse of the Qianjia Miao uprising, which is recorded in the history of "the war of decline in the Qing Dynasty", was ignited here. The Miao people here still retain the primitive human characteristics of simplicity, ruggedness, straightforwardness, hatred of evil, diligence and tenacity. In the feudal era, they were brutally conquered and suppressed by the ruling class again and again, and they fought together again and again indomitably. The smoke of war could never obliterate their successive figures, and their hard life could never change their unrestrained national personality. They express their sincere and magnanimous affection for their friends in the most primitive way, while Miao Huagu and muyequ fully express their romantic vision for a better life in the most wild way.
