The owner of the house, Li HuoMei, also known as Li Jinbang, went out to make a living in a private school for only two years because of his poor family. He knew that he didn't want to spend much time on books. When he was successful in his career, he went back to his hometown and built three private schools, one of which was free for the children of his family.

The origin of private school

Li Zongzhe, also known as Li Jinbang, was born in the reign of Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty. Because of his poor family, he went out to make a living in a private school after only two years. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu, Li Zongzhe made a fortune by operating Huai salt and became a well-known businessman in the north and south of the Yangtze River. Due to the rough experience in his early years, Li zongmei sympathized with the common people and scholars. He once invested heavily in the construction of the Qingshiban road from Qingyang to Tongling, and also invested in the construction of the Yangtze River dike from Tongling to Datong, which is more than 7000 feet long, about 20 km. In his hometown, he donated money to set up education, and set up three free private schools in Xidi, Chenlu, and Nanping villages, respectively, for poor children to study. "Baoyi bookstore" is one of the three private schools. It was built in the year of Guangxu, about 130 years ago. Its name is "Baoyi bookstore", which tells the students who study here to set a purpose and study hard without distractions.

Private school structure

There is a picture of Confucius hanging in the middle and a couplet hanging on both sides: "the ancestors of filial piety are happy, and the poems and books ask about nature day and night.". The interior culture is very strong.
