City Square

Sunbird square, also known as city square, is the largest square in Shenyang. Shenyang City Square is composed of flag raising square, Sunbird square and South Square.

City Square

Shifu Square is located at the intersection of Shifu Road, Qingnian Street, Xiaoxi road and Huigong street in Shenhe District. It used to be an open space. In 1907, a railway station was set up for the carriage railway jointly run by Japan and China. After the construction of Jingfeng railway, a new Jingfeng station was set up here in 1911, and a square in front of the station was formed, which was called "central square" by Japanese. After liberation, Shenyang Municipal People's government was located in the west side of the square, so it was called the city square. Shenyang Metro Line 2 goes down here and has a city square station.

As the central square of the core area of the city, the municipal government square of Shenyang has become the pride in the eyes of the citizens and a hot spot for outsiders to visit Shenyang in order to reflect the urban culture and taste of Shenyang. The square has the dual functions of municipal square and citizen Lvyin leisure square. During the day, there are a lot of tourists here. Walking around the square, people can experience the unique temperament and charm of Shen city. Every night, another 20000 or 30000 people come to the square for leisure, fitness and entertainment.

After continuous renovation, the square is rectangular with a total area of 66200 square meters. The square consists of three parts: national flag raising area, citizens' leisure area and South Square area. In 2006, Shenyang City Square was selected as "national characteristic cultural square".

Before 2013, the city square was composed of flag raising square, Sunbird square and South Square.

Around the Sunbird, there will be eight large-scale three-dimensional rose patterns composed of roses and roses. These eight rose patterns will also form a large-scale three-dimensional flower bed with a diameter of 39 meters. It is reported that in order to reflect the beauty of roses and the clearness of roses, flower beds will also be decorated with flowers such as marigold and Petunia to achieve the harmonious unity of sculpture and flower sea.

In the North Square, four seasons Begonia, Petunia and African Impatiens form a large wreath around the flag raising square.

In the South Square, red, white and green are used as the basic colors, and two groups of large flower belts, East and West, are arranged in the green space, including Buxus microphylla, water wax, Petunia, Begonia sijiensis and Impatiens Africana, which run through the whole square and echo with the garland of the North Square. The reporter saw at the scene that the big ribbon on the design runs through the whole city square, and its shape is similar to a violin. However, Yu Shen Guang said that the designer did not give the curved ribbon any special meaning, but mainly wanted to express the meaning of "harmony".

In the South Square, the emblem of a large-scale international horticultural exposition will be formed by the combination of five color grass, jinyanxiuxianju, sijihaitang and other flowers.

On the eve of the 12th National Games in 2013, the city square completed a major project transformation, and the original Sunbird was moved to Xinle site. Fountains are set up in the middle of the square, and there are a number of entertainment facilities for the public to use.
