Jinshi archway

Jinshi pailou, located in Yantou ancient village, is the largest one of the similar buildings in Nanxi River. According to legend, in Shangcun village of Yantou Town, in the 44th year of emperor Shizong's Jiajing reign, Jin Zhao was a Jinshi in Yantou village. He was transferred to Duanzhou Prefecture by the deputy of left temple and right temple of Dali temple. During the reign of emperor Shizong, he erected a archway in front of the main gate of Jin's ancestral hall.

Jinshi archway

It is located in Shangcun, Yantou Town, Yongjia, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It was built in 1565 by Jin Zhao. The four column and three room wooden building is 7.63 meters high, 9.9 meters wide and 2.35 meters deep.

In the Ming Dynasty, the two pillars were square stone pillars, and the second one was square wood pillars. They were made of thick materials and were plastered into a small slope at the head of the pillars. On both sides of the archway, there are four corner pillars. The Dougong is strong and regular, and it is exquisitely made. The back of the house is built with thin bricks to form a clear water flower ridge. The ridge surface is carved with Ruyi flowers and plants. The two ends of the ridge in the Ming Dynasty are decorated with dragon head kisses; the two ends of the ridge are decorated with phoenix head kisses, and the two ends of the ridge are decorated with flying phoenix. It is one of the best existing archways in China.
