Leiyin Temple

Leiyin temple is located on the left side of the road from Dunhuang to Mingsha mountain YueYaQuan scenic spot, about 4 kilometers away from the urban area. It is said that in ancient times, there was Leiyin temple near Yueya spring, which was later buried by wind and sand. In 1989, Leiyin temple was rebuilt with donations from Buddhist groups at home and abroad and Dunhuang Buddhist Association. It was completed in June 1991 and opened to tourists. It is the largest Buddhist activity place in Dunhuang City, with pilgrims coming in an endless stream on the 1st and 15th day of the lunar new year.

The whole building faces north and south. It is famous for its concentration, compactness and elegance. The design is unfolded on the central axis, horizontally symmetrical, extending step by step, raising, leveling and high platform. The temple is very solemn and grand, with extraordinary momentum.

Leiyin Temple

Xiaoleiyin Temple
