Natang Temple

Natang temple, 15 kilometers away from Shigatse, was built in 1033 by luojiaza, a senior monk of gadang sect. Although it is far less grand than the tashilumbu temple, its history is more than 400 years longer than that of tashilumbu temple. Natang temple is most famous for its Sutra printing academy.

It is one of the three major Hindu temples in the Tibetan area. In 1033 ad, it was built by dongdun luojiaza, an eminent monk of the gadang sect. Although Natang temple is small, it has a long history, more than 400 years earlier than Zha temple. Master bashiba's master, qinmulanggarza, lived here for a long time, and Dalai Gendun Juba, the first generation, was instructed to learn Dharma here. The contribution of the nakusi Sutra Printing Institute is greater than that of dege and Potala Palace. There is a set of Natang version of Tibetan scriptures and a wealth of Tibetan printing plates in the temple. There are 208 Tibetan sutras, 2225 Buddhist sutras and other great works. Naku temple is known as the "Tibetan library".
