Cave 15

Cave 15 is another cave of special shape in Yungang. It is different from other caves in that it is small in scale and has no large statue. The main feature of this cave is that its four walls are filled with orderly arranged dry Buddhas. It is the most typical thousand Buddha statue cave in Yungang Grottoes. According to statistics in 1958, there are 8900 statues in this cave. So it is also commonly known as Wanfo cave. The statue of Thousand Buddhas is a very popular subject in Buddhist grotto art. Usually, a large number of small Buddha statues are carved on the whole wall, the top of the cave, the doors and windows, and the towers.
