7. Cave 8

Caves 7 and 8 are also called Double caves because they have the same shape and layout of statues. Its shape is a rectangular plane with front and rear chambers, and the former was built on the cliff with a wooden roof. Front outdoor carved tower columns. There are steles in the front rooms of the two caves, under which there are turtles. The two caves are connected by a South Road at the back of the front chamber.

Layout of the cave: the main image is located in the upper and lower niches of the back wall of the back room, and the other three niches are arranged in layers. In the front room, the left wall of cave 7 and the right wall of cave 8 are divided into layers and columns, with a scroll like picture, in which there are double storey pavilions. The difficult journey of Sakyamuni's pursuit of Tao in cave 7 is depicted. When you walk through the more than 30 relief paintings, the extraordinary life of Sakyamuni will be clearly presented in front of you. This is probably the intention of the sculptor at the beginning.

Thousand Buddhas are carved on the right wall of cave 7 and the left wall of cave 8. In the lower part of each wall of the front rooms of the two caves, there are carved lines of offering people and kneeling lines of offering heaven. Above the lines of offering people, there are carved wooden houses.
