Dayu mountain

Dayuling, formerly known as Hehuan pass, is located 112.5km away from tai8 line, with an altitude of 2565m, which is the highest point of Zhongheng highway. The origin of the name

During the construction period of Zhongheng highway, it was dug with bare hands and operated in a difficult environment due to geological and technical problems and dangerous terrain. According to this situation, it is no less difficult than Dayu's flood control. President Jiang Jingguo, who came to inspect the engineering condition, named it "Dayu mountain".

The geology of Dayuling is fragile. Except for the influence of stratigraphic structure and alpine climate, most of the rock plates are flaky and clastic, so they are not suitable for development. It starts from songquangang in the west, adjacent to Lushan formation, ends at kuanglu tunnel and GuanYuanQiao in the East, and is adjacent to bilushan formation. The geological composition of this area is mainly slate and metasandstone, with sandstone, cleavage, fold and other phenomena. Therefore, in 1979, geographer Chen Zhaoxia took Dayuling as the standard geology of this stratum, which was published in "Geology along the cross highway in Central Taiwan" and named "Dayuling formation" The age belongs to Miocene, which is divided by Lushan layer, so the composition is similar.

It takes about three to four hours to get there from Hualien via the central cross highway (Provincial Highway 8). It takes about two to two and a half hours from Taichung to Taichung via provincial road 14A of National Highway 6.

Public transportation:
