Hometown of Yao Wang

Yaowang mountain, located 1.5km east of Yaoxian County, Tongchuan, Shaanxi Province, is one of the first batch of key cultural relics protection units in China and a scenic spot in Shaanxi Province. It was named after the place where Sun Simiao, a medical scientist of Sui and Tang Dynasties, lived in seclusion. It has a long history, unique natural landscape, rich cultural relics and rich connotation.

Yaowang temple is the center of people's Memorial and sacrificial activities. The total area of Yaowang temple is 9291 square meters. There are 12 scenic spots, including Qinglong, Baihu, Yaowang hall, Notre Dame hall, Yaowang Temple Square, stage, stone terrace, wobai, Xiyao pool, and incense tablet of Min'an palace. Sun Simiao, the king of medicine, has made great contributions to the people all his life. People have held various activities to commemorate him for thousands of years. Every year, the ancient temple fair on February 2 of the lunar calendar covers a hundred miles, and people from both inside and outside the province come here one after another to catch up with the temple fair and worship the king of medicine.

Yao Wang Temple was built in the Song Dynasty, and has been rebuilt for four times in the past dynasties. There are 12 ancient cypresses around the hall, vigorous and straight, with luxuriant branches and leaves. Since 1990, the people of Yaowang's hometown have raised funds to repair the ancestral hall twice, with carved beams and painted buildings inside and outside the hall and a new color decoration. Under the eaves of the front of the hall, there are legends such as "the king of medicine diagnosing the dragon" and "Fu Hu", as well as the scenery of Mount Taibai and Mount Emei. On both sides of the hall are painted stories such as "Eight Immortals crossing the sea" and "Purple air from the East".

There are eight scenic spots in the Yaowang Tomb scenic spot, including the shadow stele, stone lion, immortal tomb stele and stele tower, Yaowang tomb, the tomb of Yaowang's parents, Xinglin, Min'an palace root seeking and ancestor visiting stele, and Sino Japanese friendship tree.
