Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum

The only public museum in Taiwan with wood carving as its theme. The main goal of the museum is to promote wood carving, including the origin of wood carving art, the style and features of Chinese wood carving in the past dynasties, the wood carving of South Island ethnic group, the origin and development of Sanyi wood carving, the special exhibition room of wood carving art, architectural furniture, Temple religion, composite media and contemporary art invitation.

Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum

Sanyi woodcarving museum is a museum in Sanyi Township, Miaoli County, Taiwan, formerly known as "Sanyi woodcarving art exhibition hall". It opened on April 9, 1995. It is subordinate to the international cultural and Tourism Bureau of Miaoli County Government, and is the only public museum in Taiwan with woodcarving as the theme.

To carry forward woodcarving, and responsible for woodcarving collection, collection, display, research, promotion, maintenance and innovation.

Development history

In March 1990, the Department of construction of Taiwan provincial government built an exhibition hall to promote the art of wood carving. In May 1990, the Cultural Construction Committee of Taiwan Executive Yuan selected Sanyi wood carving as the local characteristic of Miaoli County according to the plan of "developing local characteristic Museum". In 1992, it was included in the six-year national construction plan to set up a special Museum of wood carving. In April 1995, the museum officially opened. The second floor and the first floor underground are planned for the main building. In May 2003, the Cultural Construction Committee of the Executive Yuan set up a special fund for the construction of the second Museum, adding space for wood carving teaching, exhibition, collection, library and reference room. The exhibition space of the second Pavilion is wood grain fair faced wall, which won the Taiwan Architecture Award in the same year.

Collection

The exhibition theme of the woodcarving museum includes nine parts: the origin of the carving art, the historical features of Chinese sculpture, the origin and development of Nandao national woodcarving, Sanyi woodcarving, architectural furniture, temple religion, composite media, Contemporary Art Invitation Exhibition and special exhibition of woodcarving art, showing the beauty and brilliance of woodcarving art.

9: 00-17:00 (stop selling tickets and entering at 16:30), and close on New Year's Eve and the closing day announced by the library.

It's NT $80 and NT $50 for student tickets.
