Zhongpo National Forest Park is located in the northern suburb of Huaihua City, Hunan Province. Its geographical coordinates are 109o54'23 "～ 109o58'07" E, 27o33'42 "～ 27o36'10" n, with a total area of 1367 hectares. It is 5.9 km long from east to west and 4.5 km wide from north to south.

Development history

The forest area of the park is 1286 hectares, with a forest coverage rate of 94.1%. There are more than 100 peaks in the park, including 45 peaks above 400 meters above sea level, with the highest altitude of 638.6 and the relative height difference of 405.5 meters.

On August 31, 2006, with the approval of the State Forestry Administration, Zhongpo National Forest Park became one of the first national forest parks authorized to use the special signs of national forest parks in China. In December 2016, it was approved as a national 3A tourist attraction.

Botany

In the park, there are 7 species of national first-class trees, 18 species of national second-class protected trees, more than 30 species of high ornamental value trees and more than 400 ancient and famous trees. There are 3 kinds of first-class protected animals and 15 kinds of second-class protected animals. It has 340 hectares of well preserved and concentrated natural secondary forest, and a large area of mixed forest with many tree species. It is an ideal place for people to return to nature and leisure.

Scenery

There are 7 strange rocks and rocks, 3 ancient springs and wells, 10 forest canyons and streams with a total runoff length of 22 km, 5 reservoirs and lakes in the park, with a total water area of 71 hectares (including 54 hectares of TANKOU reservoir).

The cultural landscape here is also very rich. Zhongpo used to be a must pass place for soldiers and horses in the Western Han Dynasty. Up to now, there are two ancient trenches where soldiers and horses fought each other. There is an ancient post road passing through the north and south of the park. There are five ruins or sites, including Zhongpo temple, Zhongpo nunnery, Zhongpo temple, Bodhi temple and enemy ancestral hall. They are connected with the local buildings of the surrounding villages, and have obvious characteristics of ancient times and local culture.

Tourism information

Transportation of Zhongpo Forest Park: 1. Bus: take No.12 bus: 2.6km Huaihua station. Walk about 280 meters to the railway station, take bus No.12, pass 5 stops to tiezhizhong station, walk about 610 meters to Zhongpo National Forest Park (Huaihua station). 2. Self driving: the whole journey is about 2.0 km. Huaihua station (1) starts from the starting point to the west, drives 50 meters, turns left ahead to enter Hezhou North Road (2) drives 160 meters along Hezhou North Road, turns right slightly to enter G320 (3) follows G320 Drive 330 meters, turn right to enter g209 (4), drive 920 meters along g209, turn left (5), drive 10 meters, turn left (6), drive 170 meters, turn right (7), drive 60 meters, turn right (8), drive 300 meters, turn right (9), drive 50 meters to Zhongpo National Forest Park (Huaihua station).

supporting facilities

The park has good infrastructure and service facilities. Five folk resorts with reasonable distribution and complete functions have been built, with a construction area of more than 4000 square meters, which can provide accommodation for more than 300 people and leisure for tens of thousands of people. It has built three TV relay and microwave communication towers, more than 3000 mu of various scientific research or economic forests, 500 mu of gene bank of rare tree species, and a butterfly herbarium with the most complete species in Hunan Province, which has been listed as the key science and education base of Huaihua City. The road is connected with the urban area, which can directly reach the peak of the park, and the supporting facilities such as water and electricity, communication and commerce are becoming more and more perfect. The annual number of tourists has reached more than 200000, and is on the rise.
